SO!!! Our little Charly took her first plane ride at the end of June. We went to Marcola Oregon, just outside Eugene/Springfield, to see Mimi and Papa Heath. This was the first time they'd met!!! My parents and brother Ben and sister Hannah went with us for the first weekend and then we got to stay for the entire next week. I LOVE visiting up there. They live in the middle of nowhere on 60+ acres and time pretty much stops. AND....the hippy, green, eco-friendly people are truly entertaining :)
First though...we had a craptaculous adventure just getting there! We were scheduled to leave at 3:55. When we got to the airport we were delayed for 2 hours. Well...we waited for the first hour, only to find out they bumped it another hour! The weather was horrid in Dallas and getting worse in Amarillo. So we chilled.

Eventually my family got hungry and Ben left his I-Pod at home. So, because we had 2 hours to leave, they left! Went back to the house and grabbed some dinner. Chris, Charly and I stayed at the airport cuz we'd checked C's carseat. Well...not 30 minutes after they left...A TORNADO HIT THE AIRPORT. That's right folks. A bonafide tornado was headed our way and they evacuated us.....to the cement basement room things. It sucked. It was hot, especially with around 300 people in it. They didn't make us go all the way underground which was good cuz it was blazing hot. Charly was fantastic and I even got her to take a nap!

When we went back up top we waited for my family to get back to the airport before we went back through security...since security was like a billion miles long. This was a pic I took outside the security line.
We then had to wait another 2 hours to leave and made it to Portland at midnight....then we had to get our rental and drive for 2 hours. It sucked for real. We slept in a bit then headed to Newport. A fantastic coast town with fun shops and Mo's Tavern..the best clam chowder ever! Except I don't like clam chowder....but they do have amazing chili. Yum!! We ate, spent money..and walked the beach.....then fell asleep on the drive home cuz we were all exhausted
Newport and the Beach
So the boys asked me to take a pic of them. A pic of them being "contemplative." Nerds
Without further adieu....Benjamin Brock Lovett and Christopher Alan Heath....looking to the future, pondering their fortunes. Blah...hah!
We like our baby girl...ALOT!!!

Apparently all the men in her life do!!!
Her Grandpa Lovett and Papa Heath adore her little face...
Who wouldn't!!! Hee!
Chillin' in Eugene and at the house....so nice!
Chris and I after the Saturday Market... Ben was able to get her to sleep!!
we were exhausted!

Mimi feeding baby girl!!! Charly loves to be read to :)
This is the view from the front porch of my in-laws. How sweet is that!!!
So, while we were up there we visited the coast a few times ~ once with my family then another part later after they left. We were able to see Chris's great Aunt and Uncle, Bud & Shirley. They are a blast!!! Following are pics of the coast near Devil's Churn and at Devil's Churn.

A lighthouse on the way to Devil's Churn....................this is Devil's Churn!
We got a new camera while on vacation...Chris played with it .... alot.
So we went to Northern Cali while we were there too...Lew's Mom and Step-Dad live in Scott Valley. We were worried about the air quality because of the fires. We got some awesome pics of the smoke coming over the mountains as we were leaving.
We decided to spend our last day in Portland. So on Saturday we drove up, stopped at the outlets of course and spent the evening by the river. It was beautiful!!

Basically the whole trip was great. We needed to get away and just hang out together. Chris and I enjoyed each other and Mimi and Papa spent quality time with Charly girl. They were a huge help at night....Pop even took her after we got in from Cali and she was wide away at 2 am...he stayed up with her til she fell back to sleep at 4!! What a guy! Must be where his son gets it ;)
Charly was pretty much perfect the entire day of flying. More than one person commented on her wonderful traveling skills...and her sweet face of course! We made it home and left 36 hours later for my family reunion...more on that later!!!
